Duality and gender are at the forefront of this work. Using the gender stereotypes of ballet and suits for the inspiration of these chairs’ forms, contrasting the curving lines with sharp angular lines, “girly” colors against “masculine” colors to illustrate the division in our society over gender. While stereotypical in their initial presentation, their details add ambiguity to the overall design.
